Cycle tour Lake Constance, Danube & Allgäu - Beuron

On this bike tour you will experience the diverse landscapes in the south of Germany. You will start your journey at Lake Constance, take a trip to the famous Rhine Falls, cycle past the volcanoes of the Hegau region, follow the Danube valley with its impressive limestone rocks, cross the softly rolling hills of Upper Swabia, reach the lush green Allgäu until you’re back at Lake Constance where you can enjoy the scenery from aboard the catamaran. Medieval towns, baroque monasteries, spas and mud baths await your visit. We recommend a good level of physical fitness for this tour.

Cycle tour Lake Constance, Danube & Allgäu - Danube valley

Day 1 Arrival in Constance
Explore the town’s historical centre or go for a swim at the “Hörnle”, just like the locals.

Day 2 Constance - Schaffhausen, approx. 50 km/ 31 mi
Cycle along the Swiss shore of Lower Lake Constance to reach the small medieval town Stein, before continuing to the romantic High Rhine (Hochrhein).

Day 3 Schaffhausen - Rhine Falls - Radolfzell, 55 km/ 34 mi
Today you will experience the Rhine Falls up close. Cycle along the Höri peninsula, where the famous author Hermann Hesse and the artist Otto Dix once lived, to reach Radolfzell.

Day 4 Radolfzell - Engen - Mühlheim, 40-60 km/ 25-37 mi
Cycle through the volcanic landscape of the Hegau to reach the river Danube, which at times seeps into the ground here. The ascent between Engen and Tuttlingen can be avoided by taking the train.

Day 5 Mühlheim - Sigmaringen, approx. 50 km/ 31 mi
Today you will experience what is possibly the most beautiful stretch of the German Daube – the Danube valley with its impressive limestone rocks and the castle Sigmaringen.

Day 6 Sigmaringen - Bad Waldsee, approx. 65 km / 40 mi
The bicycle tour will then take you south into the Upper Swabian Spa region, which offers countless hot springs and mud baths. Bad Waldsee has a Spätzle museum, honouring the traditional Swabian dish.

Day 7 Bad Waldsee - Wangen im Allgäu, 45 km/ 28 mi
You reach the Allgäu and can visit the farmhouse museum today.

Day 8 Wangen im Allgäu - Constance, approx. 55 km/ 34 mi
Your return journey to Lake Constance will take you through the hop fields surrounding Tettnang. From Friedrichshafen the catamaran will take you back to Constance.
